What we do

MTA Institute of Technology (MIT) was the first training organisation in Queensland to gain approval to deliver the motor mechanics apprenticeship in the workplace. Workplace training is the method of delivery MIT is built on and has pioneered for the automotive industry since 1997.
Apprenticeships and traineeships allow people to learn while they work. MIT will assist you in organising your training needs so that, as an apprentice or trainee, you can learn the skills of the occupation you have chosen. Apprenticeships and traineeships can be full-time or part-time and their length will depend on the trade, any previous training undertaken and how quickly you learn the skills of the apprenticeship or traineeship.

MIT’s continued commitment to developing training options suitable for both the apprentice and the business has led to the launch of our new “Day Release Training Model” & “College Training Model (Block Release)” to supplement our existing on-site delivery model.

1.     Are you an apprentice or trainee looking for a training provider? MIT is the largest provider of training to automotive apprentices and trainees. Please call us on (07) 3722 3000 to find out how we can become your training provider.

Benefits of Workplace Delivery
Delivery of training in the workplace has significant advantages over traditional classroom delivery. These include:
  • Apprentices and Trainees are not taken out of the workplace for “blocks” for training, which means that employers can structure their workload more effectively
  • Employers are included in the training process from day one, which means that they are kept up-to-date and are fully aware at all times how the apprentice or trainee is progressing
  • Apprentices and Trainees learn on the vehicles that they are dealing with every day while using the tools and equipment that they are most familiar with
  • The training is directly related to “real-life” work experience by linking the theory to the day-to-day work that the student is performing
  • Training is delivered at regular intervals over the full term of the Apprenticeship or Traineeship. This means that students are not expected to “cram” training into a specified bock of time and therefore receive ample opportunity to practice their new skills.
